Who Are We

Ochaworth Leadership and Community Development Initiative (OWLACDI) is a CAC-registered (CAC/RN/7290687) non-governmental network of impactful youth led, women’s right community, committed to promoting equality, social justice and building women and girls to birth the more in them, knowing their worth, and living their worth.

Our vision is to create a world free from all forms of injustice, discrimination and inequality against women and girls.

Our mission to promote and protect the rights of women and girls through advocacy and empowerment, impacting women and girls through mentoring, leadership and development towards eliminating Gender-based violence.

Non-Violence: We promote a culture of zero-tolerance towards violence, especially against women and girls; VAWG is a crime that should be censored by society and commensurately punished by law.

Partnership between men and women based on equality, mutual respect, and social justice is essential for national progress and development.

Objectives

1. To empower women and girls to achieve their full potential and human rights in all aspects of their lives.

2. To raise awareness and knowledge of breast cancer prevention and early detection among women and girls, and encourage them to learn their family history and risk factors.

3. To improve understanding and action of climate change among women and men and promote sustainable development for all.

4. To increase access to quality education, health, and general services for women and girls, especially those who are out of school or at risk of gender-based violence.

5. To raise awareness about the rights and entitlements of widows and orphans, advocating for their legal protection and societal acceptance within the community.

OWLACDI Programmes

1. Gender Equality

Promoting gender equality is at the core of OWLACDI's mission. This program focuses on challenging discriminatory norms and practices that perpetuate inequality. We work to create a society where women and girls have equal opportunities, rights, and representation. Our initiatives include addressing Violence Against Women and Girls, Amplifying the voices of women and girls through our podcast "The Feminist Frontier Podcast ", advocacy campaigns, community sensitization, providing psychosocial support services, and policy influence.

2. Education and Training Programs

Education is a powerful tool for empowerment. Our education and training programs aim to equip women and girls with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed. We offer scholarships, vocational training, literacy programs, and leadership development workshops. Our goal is to bridge the education gap and create a more informed and empowered community.

3. Economic Empowerment and Initiatives

Economic empowerment is critical for women's independence and self-sufficiency. Our economic empowerment programs provide women with access to financial resources, entrepreneurship training, and market opportunities. We also support women-led businesses and cooperatives, helping them to grow and thrive.

4. Health and Wellness Programs

Women's health and wellness are essential for their overall well-being. Our health programs focus on providing access to quality healthcare services, health education, and nutrition counselling. We also work to address specific health concerns affecting women and girls, such as breast cancer, maternal mortality, and reproductive health.
